- Third grade students at Hayes Leonard Elementary School get down Thursday morning as part of their monthly Cass Club meeting presenting a unique message through a familiar song. Inspired by the Black Eyed Peas outdoor performance on Chicago's Michigan Avenue for the Oprah Show, 3rd grade teacher Sharon McCorkle re-wrote the lyrics to the BEP's song, "I Got a Feeling" to reflect the theme at the school this month: making a difference.

- IU Northwest History professor, Jerry Pierce is an expert on medieval history, and has traced the origins of Halloween to the Celtic New Year, Samhain, which was essentially a harvest festival celebrated around Oct. 31, and the Catholic Church's All Saints or All Souls Day that was celebrated on Nov. 1. The Trick or Treating, Candy, pumpkins and costumes part have become the American addition to the holiday.
