CROWN POINT | A high school football team without a good quarterback is like a country with a good president. Please enter your own punchline here. It's like a Beatle without the bangs. Two of the region's best teams – Andrean and Crown Point – faced each other on Friday night in the Hub in the dying spectacle of high school scrimmages. Hey folks, how about a 10th game? Prep teams have about 100 scrimmages in the summer. Why one more? Might as well make this one count. Two of the region's top quarterbacks – Andrean's Matt DeSomer and Crown Point's Jake Jatis – took the field after a crazy, up-and-down summer where both of their futures clouded up a bit. DeSomer spent most of the summer trying to get a baseball scholarship. It hasn't happened yet. And Jatis is recovering from an injury suffered in a scrimmage against Indianapolis Ben Davis. I'm a huge fan of social media. Been told by many that this is the future and it's bigger than Elvis on steroids. (May “The King” rest in peace if he's not at a Dairy Queen in Grand Rapids.) But there are some serious issues with the future.
