NWI Girls Soccer All Stars

- Northwest Indiana has 6 players of the 20 state-wide headed to Crawfordsville High School Saturday for a 1pm all-star soccer game, East vs West. Three players and the coach from Lake Central, plus three players from Chesterton will be participating in Saturday's East-West All-Star soccer game. The Class 4A West girls team will be coached by Lake Central's Lori Smith. Local players on the team are Chesterton's Meghan Behrendt, Lake Central's Kaley Marcinak, CHS's Annie Thieling, LC's Ashley Doreski, CHS's Shay Masterson, and LC's Brooke Polus.

Laura Martini and Selma White

- Laura Martini, left, and Selma White, both of Lansing each lost sons in wars. Selma's son, Gene was killed in Vietnam in 1969. Laura's son, Philip died in 1995 in Iraq. Wednesday they visit the war memorial at Lansing's municipal airport.
